Irritation, Aggravation & Frustration !

Last evening when one of my colleague came to my seat for a chat, he complained that he was very much frustrated and upset with certain things happenning around him.. While talking about this we used some jargons like frustration, aggravation, irritation and all other '.....ations'

Thatz when we were talking abt the difference between frustration, aggravation and irritation..when all finally conveys the same meaning..

Remembering abt this incident which I read somewhere, we tried to find out by doing that to test the differences in a LIVE scenario.. :)

I picked up the phone and dialled a landline number at random..When the phone was answered i asked

'Can I speak to Ms.Smitha, please?'

'No, there is no one called Smitha here.". The person hangs up

"Thats called irritation" ..I told my colleague...

I picked up the phone again, redialled and asked for Smitha again...

"No, there is no one here called Smitha..Hang up..Don't call again"

"Thats called aggravation"...I told my colleague

"Then what is that you call frustration"...asked my curious colleague

I picked the phone again and dialled the same number and said..

"Hello..This is Smitha here. Did i receive any phone calls ???"

Though i frustrated, irritated and aggravated the receiver of the call at the other end, I was able to bring some smile in my colleague's face finally !!!! :))

**Whoever is the receiver of that crank call.I apologise sincerely ":P **

After a break !

Its always good to have a break in the mid of the week...esp on wednesdays...!! I got that chance yesterday...Took off yesterday and kind of relaxed the whole day...
But a part of my heart still craves for friday to get over soon ..so the weekend starts again :)
I know am being too greedy by wanting breaks often..But still..when it comes to balancing personal life with career, few breaks like this definitely serve good. It gives chances to rejuvenate the family life...And surprise element of yesterday was a visit made by my college friend.
She called up all of a sudden in the afternoon to check if am at home by chance..and there she was at my door in an hour to see me and chat with me after a long time.

Felt really happy that I was able to meet her, since she got married very recently. Back to work today ! :(((..Afterall they pay me to work isn't it :))

Navarathiri Special..

As navarathiri is fast approaching..we can see the festive fever catching up, with the shops displaying best of the dolls (golu bommais..famously called), hindu homes getting ready to welcome the 9 days with a grand display of golu padis (steps) , children all excited to keep their books out of their sight esp on the saraswathi pooja which gives off to all studying stuff.., and also each one in the family thinking some innovative ways of displaying the dolls and creating mini parks, zoos et al..

During my childhood days i was always fascinated by navarathiri, majorly looking forward to it in the quarterly holidays..and another important thing of interest is visiting neighbourhood homes collecting 'suda suda' sundal and goin back home with a huge sense of truimph depending on the quantity of sundal collected that day !! Though devouring sundal was not my main aim...collecting it was a part of the game those days...with all neighbourhood kids...!

Also comes the 'dressing up' part of navarathiri where kids get themselves dressed as krishna, radha, rukmani and other deities...! I should say i got into this trap couple of times but later managed to escape from my mom giving some real silly excuses, Afterall u grow up at one point of time :) !

The actual navarathiri feel comes when we invite people home. It is customary to sing a keertan (a song in praise of the gods and goddesses). For those who have a knowledge of music, the festival is a dais to exhibit their musical skills and revel in the praise showered (i.e. if the singer sings well).

For the others like me, it is a nightmare. I have seen women and girls who talk in a hoarse voice all ten days of Navarathiri. No, it is not because their vocal cords have been strained due to excessive singing, but because they would like to escape from the torture and pretend as if they have a bad throat. The 'sore throat' has always come as a handy excuse for me those days !

Now when i am writing this, I feel as days pass by the way the festivals are celebrated is losing the charm, with the advent of so many cable channels people are hooked on to their idiot boxes watching 'Indhiya tholaikaatchiyil mudhal muraiyaga...Thiraikku varaamal..Interval varaiyil edukka patta thiraipadam' and few nonsense interviews with movie stars..I think we cannot regain those days when festivals were celebrated as Festivals !!!

Kewl Quote !

Kinda liked this quote...cute one :)

" LIfE woUld haVe bEEn So siMplE iF We hAd iTs souRce coDe "

Life to your Dreams....

How many times have you told yourself that you can't?

How many times have you put your most treasured dreams aside and sought refuge in flimsy excuses?

You deserve much better. Your dreams are yours for a very good reason and they deserve to be given life.

Yes, you do have those dreams, though you may have chosen to hide them even from yourself. And yes, you can make them real.

Stop being so busy posing for the world and take a moment to remember the things that are truly important to you.
Those things point, clearly and directly, to your most valuable dreams.

Is it frivolous and selfish to follow those dreams? No, what is truly selfish would be to keep them forever hidden from life.

There is so very much you have to give by being the best of who you are. And the more of it you give, the more real fulfillment you will know.

Give life to your dreams. And give your dreams to life.

Thanks Mr.Ralph ! It was a wonderful piece of motivation !

Amusing Music ! - Roads of Chennai

Every morning its pretty hectic to start to office...and ride my vehicle in the scorching hot weather...
But today I found a way to make the ride enjoyable ! Yeah...Started putting my headphones on.. My mini MP3 player...which is an amazing piece of technology...Small yet powerful...it could hold around 2 GB of songs :) Thanks to Shrinath..for gifting it to me :-)

Gang Rocks !

As my good friend kalpana told the other day.."Adarsh Gang is rockin".....

I realise it today once again..

Lot of things happenned so quickly...Most of the girls joined the institution of marriage and its hard to believe that almost everyone are married and few more are waiting for their turns soon...

Days just roll by...it seems as though i got married just now..but its already been 9+ months since i got married..Latest additions to the list are sumi, huggs, madhu & lp. LP is getting married today...!

Wow..life just has its own twists and turns and the best part of life I feel is...the surprises it gives when you really dont expect it or when u are not ready for it ! Girls once who were quarelling over petty issues between friends have now grown as ladies who are searching for their prince charmings and the few who have already found theirs ! :) ..

The happiest thing about it is the feeling you get when you see everything happen in front of your eyes..when lot of old memories are still afresh in my mind...still can't believe that many of us are married and looking at life in different angles, perspectives, expectations and what not !!!

Hope everything goes well for all of us...! It would be great if the girls keep in touch wherever they are...By God's grace am able to communicate frequently and keep in touch with all my friends ..hope its the same for everyone of my friends...we cannot afford to lose touch..having stayed so close..having met so often...having spoken so much...!! Keeping my fingers crossed to see how time is goin to spell some magic in all our lives :) !!! Year 2005 is definitely going to be a memorable one !

Yet another day

Its yet another day to go....kind of boring one too ! Not much work these days.. Let me stop lying..No work at all these days :) So each day at office becomes difficult and I find hard to kill time ! Though bloggin helps me a lil not all the 8 hours just pass by so easily...Sometimes staying wihtout work at office and getting paid for it is exciting..but when it lasts for many days the crux of the daily life is missing and it feels bored..!

But looking at the personal life factor its getting good & healthy...Unlike the other s/w ppl who slog late and stretch a lot...am a cool cat... :-) oops...! TOUCH WOOD ! let none of my managers hear this or see this ;-) dont want to lose the luxury of njoying life...cooly !

Will meet you again soon ..my dear blog...as you know i have no work, so you r the only source of entertainment for me :) Catch u soon..till then bye from ME !

Friendship Day !

Today is 13th...! Its a wonderful number in my life..Though many ppl have this 'Triskaidekaphobia'..I would say 13 is awesome..and the story goes like this..around 4 years before..in the year 2001 month April Day 13...I met a wonderful person who became a best friend in my life..Her name is Lavanya and I fondly call her Priya !! She knows everything about me and has been with me through my ups and downs in life..! From that sunny day in April which happenned to be our friendship day..and which was also a good friday :-) we have the habit of specially wishing each other on 13th of EVERY MONTH !! There had been few occasions when both of us forget its 13th but thats a different story of patching up ;-) ! She is one among the few who knows 'What I am' today !

Dearest Priya : Though u are miles apart I know we share a special bond..a bond which grows stronger and stronger as each day passes..Wish you were here with me to share this wonderful day ...Hope we celebrate many more 13s...Luv U lots...Jb

One week's Food - See the sea of Difference !!

Was shocked to have a look at two of the families from different parts of the world...
Picture shows their 1 week's food and you would be able to see two sides of the coin...
One family from Australia which has adequate food and who are literally overfed and another family from Sudan (Sudanese refugees) who are poor and underfed !!

Olympics ...!! A dream for India ?

I have always wondered why the sports people are not recognised much in India..whereas the other countries celebrate them most...

In India, Cricket is the only known sport for many ppl and next comes Tennis...But lot of unknown stars are hidden in various parts of Indian states who go unrecognised...who are not able to show their talents due to lack of exposure...who has loads of talents but are in a poor financial status not enough to exhibit them !

Seeing the picture above, I wished India also had few proud moments in Olympics like this..!! Hope my dream comes true someday....IT WILL !!!

The picture shows -- "Russian Gymnast Svetlana Korkina" !! In Athens Olympic Preview Hall of Famers

Its CARS again.....

'Coincidence'...Just when i was posting about my interest in cars..esp BMWs ..My inbox says 'U've got a mail'.....Bingo !!!!! To my surprise i received some cool pics of BMWs from a good friend of mine ! Thought I would put some here...

Fantasizing cArS...!

From Childhood I had developed a passion for different types, colors and models of cars :)

I should say am a 'Car watcher'...Gazing at different cars, their wheels and the model serves as a good timepass while I travel on the roads of Chennai...

I have always had dreams of owning a S class Benz or a freaky 2 door sports car-BMW :) ... !! ...CARS ! Have usually been 'Men' Talk..but as far as I am concerned i dont like to make it a gender specific talk :)...may be am an exception in this aspect....Would love to talk about cars and know about them...and though am not owning one right now..Atleast I could say am doing some programming in the automotive domain of the I.T industry :-) ...!!

Objectives and Actions !

It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time. This Little test should get you started.

During a visit to the mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what is The criteria that defines a patient to be institutionalized.

Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, we offer a teaspoon, a teacup, and a bucket to the patient and ask the patient to empty the Bathtub."

1. Would you use the spoon?

2. Would you use the teacup?

3. Would you use the bucket?

..
Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would choose the
Bucket as it is larger than the spoon."

No," answered the Director. "A normal person would pull the plug."

HE flunked..........

There is a difference between an objective and actions! Unless you understand your objective, you will be wasting your time in your actions. Know your objective first. -- Swami Vivekananda
